Description

At Advanced Gynecology, Melbourne we believe strongly in women having every piece of information they need so that they can make informed decisions about their own health and gynaecological medical treatment. Gynaecology means the health of the ovaries, vagina and uterus. Assoc. Prof.Alex Ades is an accredited Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, trained and certified with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Medical Board of Australia and the Health Insurance Commission.

Regular Exams and Tests
Assoc. Prof.Alex Ades will offer various tests, procedures and treatments for women focussed on their reproductive system. That includes regular exams and tests, diagnosing health issues and treating them.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
We also offer minimally invasive surgical options when such procedures are needed like an endometrial ablation to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding or a Hysterectomy. With minimal invasive techniques, we help you recover quicker, have a shorter stay in the hospital, lessen the risk of long-term consequences and let you get back to your normal life.

Types of Fibroids

According to their position within the uterine wall, uterine fibroids are classified in four different types:

Subserosal FibroidsSubserosal Fibroids are located near the outer layer or serosa of the uterus.  Because they grow more towards the outside of the uterus, small subserosal fibroids are less likely to cause significant symptoms.

Submucosal Fibroids: Submucous fibroids grow towards the internal layer or mucosa of the uterus and protrude into the uterine cavity. They tend to be symptomatic at smaller sizes, the main symptom being heavy and irregular bleeding.

Intramural Fibroids: Intramural fibroids are located predominantly within the width of the uterine muscle or myometrium.

Pedunculated Fibroids: Pedunculated fibroids are not considered different from the types above, but a variation of subseroral or submucosal fibroids.
